Qatar Embassy Celebrates National Day in Tanzania with High-Level Attendance

The Embassy of the State of Qatar in Tanzania hosted Qatar's National Day celebration on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at the Rotana Hotel in Dar es Salaam. The event was graced by the presence of H.E. David Kusato Chome, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, alongside senior Tanzanian political leaders, heads of diplomatic missions, and representatives of regional and international organizations.

In his speech, H.E. Ambassador Fahad Rashid Al-Marekhi welcomed the attendees, emphasizing that this occasion symbolizes the sacrifices of Qatar’s forefathers and the achievements of the nation under the leadership of H.H. Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. He highlighted the strong bilateral relations between Qatar and Tanzania over the past 42 years and shed light on Qatar’s humanitarian and development efforts in Tanzania, including education initiatives and support for disaster-affected communities in the Arusha region. He also mentioned flagship projects such as the "Ahl Qatar Village" and the "Education Above All" initiative, which aims to provide education for 135,000 children.

For his part, Tanzania's Deputy Foreign Minister praised the distinguished relations between the two nations and commended Qatar’s role in promoting global peace and its successful hosting of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. He invited Qatari companies to invest in Tanzania’s tourism, mining, and agriculture sectors, highlighting Qatar’s expertise in the oil and gas industries as a valuable asset.

The celebration featured a variety of activities, including visual presentations showcasing Qatar’s hosting of the World Cup, the country's economic achievements, and its rich cultural and historical heritage.

The event concluded with a reaffirmation of the commitment to strengthening economic and investment cooperation between Qatar and Tanzania, alongside mutual appreciation for Qatar’s humanitarian initiatives and its prominent role on the global stage.
